Have you seen the commercials for weight loss programs like Jenny Craig? Where you have a preplanned meal made for you and shipped to you, all you have to do is eat what is sent to you and you will drop weight fast. Well I was looking into it and considering it, with the shipping costs, it was still way out of my budget. So I was thinking of different ways that I could lose weight without all the cost associated with this program. I liked the idea of having my meals preplanned, and ready to cook. So I thought there may be different ways to do this.
In the frozen section of the grocery store, I found a great substitute. The frozen meals are already sold locally. There are many different types of meals that are already made for you and all you have to do is plan your meals and cook them. You will be able to find foods that are for every meal of the day and even snacks. And the price is much cheaper.
So to do the frozen food diet, you will want to plan your daily foods. You can calculate the calories from the back of the boxes, and easily find the calories for the fruits and fresh veggies that you will pick up on the side.
You will need 7 dinners, 7 lunches (which you can even take to work with you and microwave there) and while you can pick up breakfast meals there, you can also get a better balanced meal by grabbing a bowl of cereal that you can quickly make at home. You can buy yourself frozen treats if you want them, weight watchers have some delicious frozen desserts that are low calories and can be easily made.
You can get these frozen dinners on sale which will reduce your costs, but mostly each frozen dinner isn’t over $3 each. Pick up some salads, some fruits and fresh vegetables and you will be able to have a frozen food diet for about $60 bucks a week.
Why this works (for me at least) – I know what I’m going to be eating every day, and the cost isn’t much more than what I would have spent a week. I know that I won’t be eating out so that will save my money. At work I will snack on celery, or other low calorie fruits and snacks. Since I am able to calculate my calories by just looking at the boxes, I can have a better control of what I eat.
I have lost weight doing it this way, and have it planned out for a month at a time. I don’t really concern myself with which brand I purchase, I only basically look for what will fill me up, and the calories. I would starve if I didn’t have the extra salads and fresh fruits, so that has to be a part of your meals. The packaged foods are already weighed out, so I don’t over eat, Once I am done with my meal, I know there are no more left for seconds! So that is a great incentive not to overeat.
