You can add money to your savings account painlessly. While I agree that its hard to save money most weeks, there are ways that you can do it painlessly. It will take time to build a nice nest egg, you can watch it build weekly.
SimpleĀ tips to do it:
Link your savings account to your checking account. Then once that is done, transfer the money from checking to savings when you have cents left. For example if you have 12.67 in your checking, transfer 2.67 or .67 to savings. If you do this daily you will not miss the money that you transferred to savings and your savings account will grow.
Save your change when you pay cash. Put your change in a container, once a month take the change to your bank and cash it in and put that money right into savings. Again this will add up quickly. We never spend our change, we bring it home for our container. I won’t even part with a penny when the amount is 5.01 I want that 99 cents for savings.
Move the previous week’s monies into savings. If you have a balance at the end of the pay period, when you get your new paycheck deposited, move the money that was left in checking into savings. You probably won’t miss it.
To make the most money on interest usually the last day of the month the banks will pay interest, move your money into savings where you will get a higher rate then you can move it back once you get the interest payment for the month.
Before you move the money around, make sure that your bank doesn’t charge you if you transfer money online. If they don’t, then start adding to your savings now.
